Hi, Rotarians and Anns, this issue of our traditional "Grain of Salt" is mainly pictures of our club projects for the last 3 months or so after the Thanks Giving fellowship. Let us join together as a dedicated and supportive members who live up to the ideals of Rotary and to carry out all our effective programs and to plan, implement all the projects in all Avenues of Service as we face the challenge of "THE FUTURE OF ROTARY IS IN YOUR HANDS".

For our Youth Service Project Last August 08, 2009 we sponsor a seminar for our Interactors (10 students and 1 adviser) from Paranaque National High School (PNHS) to the District Rotaract Interact Assembly (DRIA) , District Rotaract Interact Advisers council (DRIAC) held at Asia Pacific College, Makati city. The Topic is for their growth opportunities as our young partner in Service and from a devoted interactor to an excellent Rotarian and that as a youth will seal their commitment to Rotary.

We again sponsor a seminar for the 12 Interactors from Paranaque National High School (PNHS) last September 12, 2009 to the New Generation Conference held at University of Makati. The purpose of the activity is to create a forum for dialogue between community leaders and the young people to provide the youth an opportunity to voice their concerns, articulate their vision of the future and identify the support they need in helping them achieve their goals. In the process, important moral values of our times are instilled in the future leaders of our community.

The Heart and Soul of RCP is doing Community Service .On Sept 08,2009 Our RCP committee on (3H-Grant # 66059 NEURAL TUBE DEFECTS AND CHILD MORTALITY REDUCTION ) on Treatment which is the Supply of Endoscope Machine headed by our chairman IPP Lito Ramos with members Jun Garcia, Fidel Yuboco, Jimmy Ong, Ian Malilong our legal adviser , PDG Herman Gamboa and my self Dan San Pedro together with the NCH Doctors headed by Dr. Robert Enriquez review and finalized all the items, specification, terms and general condition in the quotation of Endoscope Machine submitted by supplier Biomed.

After the final review by the 3H-committee, it was approved and signed the Contract of Order in the amount of P 6,650,000.00 for the Endoscope machine plus other items added in the original quotation with Biomed-supplier .The delivery time table is shortened by 30 days upon issuance of the sales invoice. The Contract signing between RCP and Biomed was held at the National Children's Hospital on October 07, 2009 with the NCH Doctors, Staff and of course our lovely Anns PFL Lita Ramos and Dayen San Pedro. We expect the Endoscope Machine to be deliver by Mid November and will be Formally Donate it to NCH together with our Sister Club- The Rotary Club of Balan(Korea).

After a series of meeting of our RCP committee on Folic Acid headed by Rotarian Alden Aguilar with the supplier of Folic Acid, Paranaque Health center doctors thru the office of the Mayor and the Paranaque Clubs . The Rotary Club of Paranaque with the RC Balan "Korea" Launched the 2nd part of our Project (3H-Grant #66059 NEURAL TUBE DEFECTS AND CHILD MORTALITY REDUCTION) which is the:

EDUCATION NTD seminars of mothers in 16 health centers in Paranaque

PREVENTION RCP Supply & distribution of Folic Acid to Pregnant mother thru 16 health centers for 3 years on October 16,2009 from 8am to 12 noon at the San Antonio Gymnasium , Paranaque City.

We have a MOA signing between RCP and Hon. Mayor Jun Bernabe, MOA signing between RCP and 19 Paranaque Clubs. Gov. Sid Garcia delivered his message on our worthwhile project. The Event was Attended by 480 mothers, Health Centers doctors and Nurses from 16 health centers,NCH Doctors as speakers.

On our Operation Ondoy ,the RCP Committees held a meeting at Perks Avenue on September 30, 2009 to allocate funds worth P 125,000.00 for the Typhoon Ondoy Victims. As usual our reliable Anns purchased and prepared the relief Goods compose of Rice, can goods, noodles, towel, tooth paste, Mineral water and re-packed in 550 bags; 94 relief goods in plastic bags was pick-up from Pacific Village as relief center by RC Cabuyao D-3820; 100 relief goods in plastic bags were delivered to our District 3830 drop area in Ayala Alabang; 150 relief goods in plastic bags were pick-up by RC Taytay D-3800; 100 relief goods in plastic bags went to St Jerome Parish Church in Alabang; 106 relief goods in plastic bags went to Tunasan Elementary School in Taguig; 2-trucks were dispatch to the Dominicans for their delivery operation in the Bulacan Area. Our little assistance to Sister Agnetia - family house in Marikina submerged during Ondoy floods.

During the 2nd quarter of the Rotary Year, Our club extended financial assistance (through the Micro-credit Project) to 32 entrepreneurs who set up their own business around our Sitio Malaya RCC. We sponsor 5 members of our RCC Sitio Malaya (Merville) to the RCC District Assembly (RCC DISTAS) held at San Antonio Gymnasium , Paranaque City. The pictures of their business establishments are featured in this issue.

And to our "Reduction of Child Mortality project" we again saved 31 indigent children from death by providing them with Ventriculo Peritoneal Shunt (VP Shunt) and Financial assistance for their hydrocephalus and colostomy operations and 4 CLP indigent patient with the help and participation of our partner in service the Liliane Foundation, Philippines and sister club abroad.

To All the Members of RCP and Anns, RC Balan - our partner , R.I Foundation , Sr. Agnetia Naval of Liliane Foundation as our partners in helping our indigent Fellow Brothers and Sister's " Maraming Salamat Po" and by promoting the Rotary motto " Service Above Self".
